We are excited to have you join us in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) for “CONTENDING AS ONE”!
Following are some special activities we have included in the Conference schedule which will give you an overview of the Trinbagonian culture (from food to shopping to natural wonders and more). Please pay special attention to the dates and times, as some of the activities run concurrently.

THURSDAY 31ST OCTOBER, 2013
Street Food Tour, Port of Spain - REGISTRATION CLOSED! ACTIVITY FILLED
Duration: 2-3 hours (7:00 pm – 10:00 pm)
Cost: US$25/TT$163 per person inclusive of Tour Guide fee and refreshments
Trinidad's cuisine is an adventure and for the best experience, you may have to take the unbeaten path. A street vendor will serve some of the most memorable and unique foods you will eat on the island. Around the Queen's Park Savannah, you can treat yourself to coconut water and coconut jelly (scooped from a freshly cut coconut), boiled or roasted corn, Indian delicacies, or oysters served in a glass with a dash of lime and spicy cocktail sauce. St James, on the western edge of Port of Spain, is the place for nightlife and street cuisine. In the wee hours of the morning the town is abuzz with vendors selling barbecue and jerk meats, roti, homemade ice cream, Creole corn soup, ital (vegetarian) food, fruit punch (not the hotel variety) and much more.

Shopping Expedition - Downtown Port of Spain
Duration: 4 ½ hours (11:00 am – 3:30 pm)
Cost: $0
The street vendors, markets, and mini-malls of bustling downtown Port of Spain (Charlotte and Frederick Streets) are the destinations for bargain-hunters. In Port of Spain, the main thoroughfare is Frederick Street with shopping to be found on surrounding streets. Charlotte Street, to the east of Frederick Street, is renowned for its bargain shopping. In these areas, you can find a myriad of things to buy from fabric to eating utensils.
Shopping Expedition -The Falls at Westmall
Duration: 4 ½ hours (11:00 am – 3:30 pm)
Cost: US$3/TT$20
The Falls at West Mall is an elegantly refurbished, meticulously maintained mall, providing each visitor with a luxurious and secure shopping experience in a 21st century facility. The Mall features 137 stores, a modern food court, and state-of-the-art gym. Its wide selection of retailers and service providers can meet all of your shopping needs, with retailers specialising in gifts, clothing, jewelry and accessories, beauty and health, home furnishings, computer and telephone services, music and electronics, and other specialty services. Opening hours: Monday–Saturday 10 am – 7 pm, Sunday 1 pm –6 pm
SATURDAY 2ND NOVEMBER, 2013
Tour of Port of Spain
Duration: 2½ hours (2:00 pm – 4:30 pm)
Cost: US$30/TT$195 per person
This tour is ideally suited for visitors coming to Trinidad and Tobago, giving them a first introduction to the city of Port-of-Spain. Tour starts off at all leading Hotels, proceeds to Wrightson Road, travelling parallel to the Waterfront. It takes you through the old and new Port-of-Spain along roads of historical value. One such street is Abercromby Street on which the Red House is situated. This famous landmark (also known as the House of Parliament) was built in 1906.
Continuing along, you will visit sights like the Hall of Justice, The Trinity Cathedral, Woodford Square and the Queen's Park Savannah - a 230-acre park surrounded by beautiful trees and old gingerbread mansions. Some of these mansions include the Stollmeyer Castle which was built in 1904 and is reminiscent of the German Romantic style, the Queen's Royal College which now serves as a secondary school for over 1200 students, the "White Hall" whose design was inspired by the Venetian-style Palazzi, and the Archbishop Palace conceived by an Irishman with an affection for Indian Architecture.
We then conclude this tour with a visit to one of our art galleries.
Visit to Emperor Valley Zoo and Botanical Gardens – Queens Park East
Duration: 3 hours (2:00 pm – 5:00 pm)
Cost: US$14/TT$90 per person inclusive of Tour Guide fee and refreshments
The Emperor Valley Zoo is located opposite the northern side of the Queen’s Park Savannah and adjacent to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Port of Spain. It is home to a vast number of mammals, birds, reptiles and fishes found in Trinidad and Tobago and the South American continent. The 7.2 acreage landscape still contains much of the original flora and provides an excellent showcase for the exhibits.
Visit to a Panyard
Duration: 3 hours (2:00 pm – 5:00 pm)
Cost: US$2/TT$12 per person
Trinidad and Tobago is the home of the steelpan – the only musical instrument invented in the 20th Century. Bands are always happy to welcome visitors to the panyard, and people come from all over the world to hear them. Tourists can enjoy an interactive experience when they mix and mingle with members of the band and are introduced to the history of steelpan, the art of tuning pans and the background of the Steel Orchestra.
